WBTC is presently treated as halal in principle because it is intended to represent Bitcoin in a wrapped token form rather than an inherently prohibited financial instrument. The Shariah assessment depends on the legitimacy of the backing arrangement, token representation, and custody structure supporting the wrapped asset. The ruling therefore concerns the token in principle, while any issues in reserve integrity, custodial control, or external usage may require separate review.
