Shariah assessment
Reviewed by Dr. Farrukh HabibThis token is currently classified as Halal because it functions as a digital asset in principle, despite additional compliance sensitivity due to its privacy features.
XMR is presently treated as halal in principle because the token itself functions as a digital asset capable of lawful ownership and transfer, and it is not inherently structured around riba or another prohibited contract. However, its privacy-focused design creates additional compliance sensitivity from a regulatory and misuse perspective, even if that does not by itself make the token haram. The Shariah classification here concerns the token in principle, while practical usage and platform-level compliance controls remain important.
